Jimmy Butler said he was thirsty! The man has been out the past seven games and comes in to this game and leads the Miami Heat to a 120-116 victory over the best team in the league, the Boston Celtics.
Jaylen Brown hit a fadeaway three point bank shot to send this game to overtime and it felt like the team wouldn't be able to overcome this hostile environment. Well, the Heat went 4-of-5 from the field in overtime including back to back clutch buckets from Jimmy to ice this game. He was everywhere in this game with 25 points on 12-of-21 shooting, 15 rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block. Jimmy Butler practically called out Boston and then goes into TD Garden and silences the crowd with his incredible play. He's one of the best players and leaders in the game today and we are extremely lucky that he is on this team.
By the way the Bam Adebayo leap is here. Trust me you don't want to miss what is to come the rest of this season. He looked like the most dangerous player on the court and the way the Celtics was guarding him proved that even more. There was so much attention being put on making sure Bam didn't get to the spots he wanted and it still didn't matter. He had a team-high 28 points on 10-of-18 shooting and 8-of-9 from the charity stripe to go with seven rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block. There was nothing Boston could do to get him out of his rhythm and he dominated the paint all game long. Bam has simply taken it to another level averaging 30.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists on 60.8 FG% and 96.0 FT% in the the last four games.
The starting backcourt took turns in this one as Tyler Herro kept the Heat afloat in the first half. He had18 points in the half and finished with 26 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Without his creation off the dribble and timely three point shooting Miami would have been looking at a much bigger deficit heading into the half. He also stepped up on the defensive end down the stretch as Boston was constantly attacking him on that end with either Jaylen Brown or Jayson Tatum. He moved his feet well and stood his ground when Celtic players would get physical on their drives. As for Kyle Lowry, he turned it on in the second half and scored 15 points to go with five rebounds, three assists and a team-high +11 in the half. His IQ and leadership was extremely important and with another 20 point game under his belt, we could be looking at Kyle's best season in a Heat uniform.
The bench didn't play particularly well as they shot a combined 4-for-21 (19%) from the field, but Haywood Highsmith is definitely someone I wanted to mention in this article. I was not a believer for a while, and his offense still has a long way to go, but he has earned his minutes. His awareness and activity on the defensive end has been far better than expected and he's starting to look more comfortable on the offensive end with every game. Just another solid night as he played 27 minutes and was a team-high +12.
This was by far Miami's best game of the entire season as they were able to defeat the best team in the league and handing them their second loss at home. When asked what's next for his team after this big win, Jimmy simply responded with "Championship". After what we saw in this game, it's hard to argue with him.
The Miami Heat will now be looking to wrap up this road trip with another strong performance against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday, December 5th at 8:00 PM EST at the FedEx Forum. Things are definitely looking up for Miami as they've now won four of their last five games and are starting to get healthier.
